My song for Remembrance

I’m an ex Royal-Navy sailor who has been to the Gulf war (with a medal proudly on my wall at home)
This time if year is particularly poignant for me as I think of those who didn’t come home.
In my spare time, I’m a bit of a songwriter. It’s been on my Bucket List to write a song for the Royal British Legion where all proceeds of the downloads go to those who need it most. So I wrote a song called ‘BRAVE’
It tells a story from 2 different points if view. The first verse is from the parents point of view having to wave off their son or daughter in my parents case who was going off to a war-zone, the other point of view is the soldier/sailor/airman etc. who is in battle. Here are the lyrics, hope you like (and download) the song when it’s recorded.
‘Brave’
Verse 1
Damn clock,

Seems to tick down loud,

My heart stops,

At the doorstep feeling proud,

You’re scared,

But cover your trembling hands,

I’ve left,

A letter in your bag,

To glow bright,

When it gets too bad,

I wish,

I could be as close to the words,

On that page,
To keep you from harm,

The badge on your arm,

Means you,

You’re a hero to us all
Chorus

You’re so brave,

I’m so proud,

To share my life with you,

Yeah I’m scared,

But I can’t say that to you,

I just pray that you come home safe,

You’re so brave
Verse 2

18,

Seems no age at all,

You’re so short,

But standing ten feet tall,

I’ve made,

A promise to stay right beside you,
And you don’t think I hear,

You’re trying to hold back tears,

Through the noises that ring loud,
Chorus

You’re so brave,

I’m so proud to share this all with you,

Yeah I’m scared,

But I can’t say that to you,

I just pray that we get home safe,

You’re so brave
Verse 3

Tonight my world shook apart,

There’s a space right beside me now,

I tried to save you but all in vain,

I’ll tell everyone at home how you inspired me,

More than ever I need those words on the page.
Chorus

You’re so brave,

I was so proud to share my life with you.

You were so scared, but you lived your dream come true,

I just hope that we meet again,

Someday
